Students can log in to their accounts and view results under the “Past Tests” section. They’ll be able to see their score, and question-wise performance by clicking on 'Review test'.
Students can view scores at different quartiles by visiting https://northstartests.com/past-performance-report
Students can also view the overall percentage of correct answers for each question by visiting past results on our homepage.
A Student’s score is the sum of the points they earned from all the questions. A third of the questions are worth 3 points, another third are worth 4 points, and the last third are worth 5 points. The students are then ranked within their level (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) according to this total. The K/1 level is not ranked.
There is no penalty subtracted for incorrect answers, nor for leaving questions blank. It is better to guess than leave a question blank.
The names of top 20% students for each grade are published on our website. Additionally, the percentile scores at 100, 75, 50 and 25 percentiles are published for each grades with at least 10 participants. Also, a chart with percentage of students who attempted each question correctly is published for each contest.
Overall score (used for annual ranking) for the Distinction Medals is determined based on a student’s best 3 out of 6 contest scores. So if a student misses one contest, then they will not be overly affected because their 3 non-zero scores will be used to determine their ranking. However, if a student has missed more than one contest, then their ranking may get negatively affected as their top 3 will be picked from a smaller set of contests.
In rare cases, after a contest has concluded, we may identify an issue with a question—such as missing information, a formatting error, or ambiguity. When this happens, and in line with standard contest practices, we award full marks for that question to all students to ensure fairness.
Because this adjustment applies across the entire group, it can lead to small changes in scores and rankings once results are finalized. These updates typically occur within a few days after the contest and help ensure that no student is disadvantaged due to an issue beyond their control.
We always aim to finalize results as quickly as possible and appreciate your understanding as we prioritize accuracy and fairness.
