    Let's count the triangles in the picture step by step. Step 1 — Read the image: We see one large triangle. There is a vertical line going straight down from the top corner to the bottom side. There is another line going from the bottom-left corner to the right side. These two lines cross each other inside, dividing the large triangle into 4 smaller regions: 3 of these regions are small triangles (top-left, bottom-left, and top-right). 1 region is a four-sided shape (bottom-right). Step 2 — Solve: Now, let's count all the triangles we can make by looking at these regions: 1. Triangles made of 1 region: The small top-left triangle. The small bottom-left triangle. The small top-right triangle. (This gives us 3 triangles) 2. Triangles made of 2 regions: The left half (combining the top-left and bottom-left triangles). The right half (combining the top-right triangle and the bottom-right four-sided shape). The upper slanted triangle (combining the top-left and top-right triangles). The lower slanted triangle (combining the bottom-left triangle and the bottom-right four-sided shape). (This gives us 4 more triangles) 3. Triangles made of all 4 regions: The entire big triangle itself. (This gives us 1 more triangle) Adding them all together: 3 + 4 + 1 = 8 triangles.
