Jerry plays hockey on every Monday and Tuesday. He plays soccer on Thursdays and Fridays. On all other days, he doesn’t play any sports. In two weeks, on how many days he plays sports?

To find out how many days Jerry plays sports in two weeks, let's first count the days he plays sports in one week:
1. Jerry plays hockey on Monday and Tuesday. That is 2 days.
2. Jerry plays soccer on Thursday and Friday. That is 2 days.
Adding these together, Jerry plays sports on 2 + 2 = 4 days in one week.
Since we want to find the number of days in two weeks, we add the days from the first week and the second week:
4 days + 4 days = 8 days.
Therefore, Jerry plays sports on 8 days in two weeks.
The answer is C.
Question 12 — Number Sense & Operations
Children are lining up for the ice cream truck. Mia knows that 5 children are standing in front of her. Noah knows there are 9 children in the line altogether. Mia is standing just in front of Noah.
How many children are behind Noah?

1. There are 5 children standing in front of Mia. This means Mia is the 6th child in line.

4. The children standing behind Noah (the 7th child) are the 8th child and the 9th child.
Counting them, we have 2 children behind Noah.
